Time Trials - 28th June & 5th Jul

Post by paulM »

I'm organising this weeks event on the 10 mile circuit and the following weeks hilly on the Slingsby circuit on the 5th Jul.
So far I have one volunteer (Ian Holmes) to marshall the 10 so I need two more to stand on corners plus another to push off. Any takers?
The following week I also have one volunteer (Nigel G are you still ok with this?) . I will require 3 more to marshall.

Please let me know if you can help either on here or by mail musgrav@totalise.co.uk or phone 01904 750821.

The marshalling situation has been forced on us not only to keep it in line with the risk assessments I have done but because we have had several occasions where signs on unmanned junctions have been removed this year.
If I don't have ALL the marshalls I require beforehand I will cancel the events. Afterall there are 12 events and only your best 7 rides will count, and we have many riders who are already close to that figure now.
I have already marshalled two and have two still to run myself so you have been warned!

I'll be there this evening to marshal, all things being equal. Might be a bit close to 7.30 by the time I get there though.

Thanks to all who turned out on a cold, damp night.

Thanks also to Mac, Ian Holmes, Mal Craven for marshalling and to Kevin for timing and to Nigel and Pete S for their offer of help tonight.

Thanks also to everyone who has offered help next week - I'll be in touch - in fact I may not need you all?

Another problem with signs being messed with at the far turn back to Strensall tonight and we also appear to have lost another red flag. Does anyone remember seeing it on the l/h bend near the caravan Park or did anyone pick it up?

Paul I went up to the mini roundabout, turned back and then followed the route to the finish collecting all signage on the way - I don't remember seeing a red flag other than the one by the turn where I was marshalling.

There's a sign at the x-roads near the start, spotted this evening.
Couldn't carry it on my bike - if anyone's passing in a car.....

I've had more than enough offers of help to marshall this Thursday - We need 4 marshalls and myself and kevin are timing / pushing off.

I will therefore use the following to marshall - Nigel Goscinski & Dave Belcher, who offered their services on this thread plus Mick McCormick and Alan Waddilove will also be there.
This means Danny & Mike Carter won't be required - but thanks for your offer of help its much appreciated. This does of course mean you can now ride?

Suprisingly there were actually more riders than marshalls tonight.
Reversing the positions of the previous week, victory went to Jamie Sharpe with a time just 1min 10 secs off dutch Eriks course record set last year on a nice day.

1 Jamie Sharpe 41.38 Cycleworks
2 Charlie Evans 42.40
3 Steve Savage 44.54
4 Andrew Jamieson 45.13 Manx Vik Wh
5 Steve Wood 45.31
6 John Cocker 47.19
7 Brian Liddle 48.27
8 Ian Hagyard 49.47
9 Tim Adams 50.41
10 James Hawcutt 52.06
11 Andy Smith 56.08
12 Nick Butcher DNF puncture

Charlie has now ridden 7 qualifying rides and is already virtually guaranteed the senior title unless Nigel G rides all the last 4 events and wins and then I think they will tie?

Thanks to Kevin for timing, Alan W, Nigel G, Mac & Dave Belcher for marshalling.
Nick Scull is organising the next two. Please offer your assistance to him especially on next weeks come & try event. Remember it is at Stockton on Forest at 1900 on Friday - there is no event on Thursday.
