So when ever I get my bike back from the workshop... I want to look after it better than my old one.

So lets see if I get this right...

Hot Stardrops filled water and sponge for just general cleaning and brushes/rags for those hard to get places

Disc Brake Cleaner, well for disc brakes
Muc off wet lube for chain
Muc off dry lube for cables
Muc off chain lube for derailers
Muc off spray lube for jockey wheels and other areas that require a light lube

Now has the muc off "cleaning recommendatiom" recommended 4 different types of lube, so sell more products or becuase they are actually needed?

Any advice is appreciated...

You forgot elbow grease!

I got given a good tip for chains on MTBR.

Chainsaw oil.
It is only £10 a litre.
Very effective for both waterproofing and lubrication.

I have two rags I keep next to my bike, at the end of every week I wipe the oil filled rag along it, then use the other rage to wipe of excess.

Works much better than these boutique bike oils without the embarrasing price.

If you like a clean bike, silicon spray is good.
Just cover the whole bike (do with disks off or braking will get interesting) let it dry and wipe. stops dirt sticking to the framea and makes it shiny.


It is a good idea to have the correct lube for the correct parts of the bike, but was never impressed with muc off stuff, finsih line is very good (especially the ceramic grease) but all at a premium
