Ive broken my forks on my 6 week old Bike!!!

I noticed on monday the lock out , i think the push loc version on my reba races, on my forks was wobbling, but it still locked out, cycle home then cycled to work on tuesday, it had got worse so got a bike mechanic to have a look at it, he said it was fine and that they all wobbled abit, then discovered that the shock now doesn't lock, then i showed him it doesn't lock out, his look on his face said it all.

To cut a story short, my fork on my bike now doesn't lock out, and im worried that it isn't covered by warranty, it's only 6 week old and I have only been moutain biking once...

Any advice.

As long as you bought it from a shop then it's definetly covered under warranty so nothing to worry about. 6 weeks is unreasonable no matter how you judge acceptable wear and tear or planned product lifespan irrespective of what you've done on it.

I'd disagree that it should wobble at all though - none of my Sids do. I'd get it straight back to the shop for the mechanic to have a proper look at as it might be an easy fix. Mind you, he should have checked everything before you took the bike away in the first place!

It was solid when I bought it, got the forks set up to my weight and made sure everything was looking good.

No worries David, all the bits are replaceable if something has failed and the shop will have to do the work and get the parts - you've no liability either way if it's just a riding along and it broke in normal use thing. If all was fine at purchase then it sounds like something was not tightened quite enough and has worked loose with a little riding doesn't it. Easily fixed whatever the issue.

Nothing worse than a day or two without the bike while they sort it out

How about crashing on your other bike a couple of days before? And snapping a drop out hanger that take 2 weeks to be delivered?

Gotta keep happy...

Oh dear, and they say it comes in threes too - better watch out!

I haven't got any more bikes to break...

Worry not, this is a known issue with some Reba's.

It is a quick fix, and covered under warranty.

You will probably have to send the Fork away for repair though =-(

Will the quick fix, prevent it from happening again?
