SPOCO 27TH MAY - Riders notes and results
Posted: Wed May 26, 2010 7:23 pm
There were reports of a couple of incidents of drafting last week (riding in another riders slipstream after catching/being caught). Assuming these were new riders who aren't clear on CTT rules: you must not ride in the slipstream of another rider, even if it means dropping back slightly after someone catches you. It's classed as cheating and might get you disqualified.
Further to Mac's post as well - Race marshal's cannot slow or stop traffic for you at junctions, you must check that it's clear and stop if necessary.

Riders notes:
- This weeks event starts & finishes at Sheriff Hutton crossroads - there is plenty of parking near the start. There will be a lot of riders milling about, so please be especially considerate and courteous to residents in and around the village.
This event takes place on the public highway - all rules of the road apply and riders must obey the Highway Code at all times.
Race marshal's are only there to make sure you go the right way, they cannot warn, direct or stop traffic for you.
There are stables in the area - if you see horses on the road make sure they know you are coming, slow down and take care - racehorses can be nervy and they are bigger than you.
This event takes place of unclassified country roads - there are poor surface conditions, nice big potholes and sometimes agricultural debris - newer riders should be aware that this is a technical circuit, always ride within your ability.
The approach to Bulmer is a fast, steep descent often with gravel at the bottom, followed by a steep climb up Bulmer Bank.
Terrington Bank is a fast, steep descent. Riders must give way to oncoming traffic on the bridge after Terrington Bank.
Head-down riding position is banned. Clifton CC strongly encourages all riders to wear a helmet - riders under 18 must wear one.
